Kid Friendly!

My kids loved this recipe! Yours will too! :-)

Julius (above) is three years and Jacey is one! Julius obviously loved the sweet taste of this dish. Normally a picky eater; he ate every bite! For Jacey, the soft custard-like center texture was perfect for her palate.

Banana French Toast Casserole Bake Breakfast Recipe

This banana french toast casserole is a perfect breakfast recipe for a hungry family! Try this Banana French Toast Casserole Bake Breakfast Recipe! Your family will love it. My husband said it reminded him of banana bread. I think it has the perfect consistency of a custard bread pudding for breakfast. You could even add raisins or nuts! It is absolutely delish!

This isn't exactly healthy, but hey, you don't have to make it every day! It would be perfect for a lazy Saturday, a holiday, or morning office party. Are you a busy mom? Do a load of dishes or laundry while you wait for the casserole to cook. Either way, I guarantee your family and guests will love it! If you try the recipe, please leave your comments below and let us know what you think! ;-) We love hearing from you!

Experts say that a french toast casserole bakes up nicer in a glass casserole dish than in a metal one. The top should be golden brown. Let the dish rest for five to ten minutes before serving to let the custard settle.

Cook Time

Prep time: 30 min
Cook time: 55 min
Ready in: 1 hour 25 min
Yields: Serves 6 People

Ingredients

  • 5 Cups Bread (Cubed), Wheat
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 & 1/2 Cups Milk
  • 1/4 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Tbsp Butter (softened)
  • 2 Tbsp White Sugar
  • 2 Whole Bananas (Mashed)
  • 2 Tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 4 Tbs Butter
  • 1/4 Cup Syrup
  • (To Taste) Powdered Sugar

Banana French Toast Casserole Instructions

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (or 175 degrees Celsius). Spray an 8X8 inch baking pan with non-stick butter spray.
  2. Cube the bread into small square pieces. Add these to the bottom of the pan in an even layer. Next, mash the bananas until a smooth texture and add them to a large mixing bowl. Add the eggs, milk, 2 tablespoons of white sugar, salt, and vanilla. Beat these ingredients together until well combined.
  3. Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes and then toss the cubes to evenly coat. Cut the tablespoon of butter into fine pieces and evenly distribute on top of the bread. Set the pan aside while you make the brown sugar topping.
  4. To make the brown sugar topping, combine 2 tablespoons of brown sugar with 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture over the top of the banana french toast casserole. Bake for about 50 - 55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. The crispier the edges; the better it tastes! The inside will be like a custard.
  5. While the casserole is cooling, melt 4 tablespoons of butter and mix with 1/4 cup of your favorite syrup. Right before you serve the casserole, pour the syrup mixture over the top of the casserole and then evenly sprinkle powdered sugar over the top. Enjoy!
  6. This dish is even better if you refrigerate the leftovers and eat hours later! The flavors set in and come together beautifully and the syrup mixture will solidify. Yum!
