My kids loved this recipe! Yours will too! :-)
Julius (above) is three years and Jacey is one! Julius obviously loved the sweet taste of this dish. Normally a picky eater; he ate every bite! For Jacey, the soft custard-like center texture was perfect for her palate.

Experts say that a french toast casserole bakes up nicer in a glass casserole dish than in a metal one. The top should be golden brown. Let the dish rest for five to ten minutes before serving to let the custard settle.

Cook Time
Ingredients
- 5 Cups Bread (Cubed), Wheat
- 4 Eggs
- 1 & 1/2 Cups Milk
- 1/4 Tsp Salt
- 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 Tbsp Butter (softened)
- 2 Tbsp White Sugar
- 2 Whole Bananas (Mashed)
- 2 Tbsp Brown Sugar
- 1 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 4 Tbs Butter
- 1/4 Cup Syrup
- (To Taste) Powdered Sugar
Banana French Toast Casserole Instructions
- Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (or 175 degrees Celsius). Spray an 8X8 inch baking pan with non-stick butter spray.
- Cube the bread into small square pieces. Add these to the bottom of the pan in an even layer. Next, mash the bananas until a smooth texture and add them to a large mixing bowl. Add the eggs, milk, 2 tablespoons of white sugar, salt, and vanilla. Beat these ingredients together until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes and then toss the cubes to evenly coat. Cut the tablespoon of butter into fine pieces and evenly distribute on top of the bread. Set the pan aside while you make the brown sugar topping.
- To make the brown sugar topping, combine 2 tablespoons of brown sugar with 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture over the top of the banana french toast casserole. Bake for about 50 - 55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. The crispier the edges; the better it tastes! The inside will be like a custard.
- While the casserole is cooling, melt 4 tablespoons of butter and mix with 1/4 cup of your favorite syrup. Right before you serve the casserole, pour the syrup mixture over the top of the casserole and then evenly sprinkle powdered sugar over the top. Enjoy!
- This dish is even better if you refrigerate the leftovers and eat hours later! The flavors set in and come together beautifully and the syrup mixture will solidify. Yum!
